Spirit

For me Spirit is almost synonymous with the All.  The way I envision it, is that there is a swirling mass of energy out there, and is sentient in it's own right, but made up of a myriad of smaller sentient parts.  When a life is born, it is as if there is a ladle that comes down and scoops up a handful of these small parts, and it is given a mission to accomplish in life.  It is given as many life times to accomplish as necessary.  Each time it is reborn the parts realign themselves into a new order.  Thus someone reborn may be different from the first or second life they lived.  Even though they are 'separated' from the all they are still part of it, but never 'the All' themselves.

After the mission is complete ( whether it be learning something or guiding others ) they return to the 'pot' to be chosen again.  The same parts are never truly reunited again, except for when they are in ' the All'.  So many people may claim to have lived the same past lives, it is only a part of the life force that they all shared, assuming that the past person has actually completed their mission.  Or possibly even once they die they are for a short time reuniting with the all, to gather strength, learn, and get the pieces they need to accomplish their mission.

Since we are not dead and not completely part of the All, we will never know for sure.  This is but one part of the circle of life and of light.
